I had never posted ONE SINGLE selfie before I started this business. 
You better believe those first few were uncomfortable and SCARY!!!! I was so worried about what other people would think and say when they saw it. But I closed my eyes (May have been sweating a little) and clicked that post button.

Why?

Because I knew I had something that could help other people and change their lives. 
Because I knew this business had the potential to turn into something BIG that could change the course of my and my family’s life.

Because I was never the girl to do ANYTHING like this, but I wasn’t willing to let who I always was presumed to be (quiet, shy, reserved Alana) hold me back from who and what I could become. 
So my question to you, as you scroll by my posts every day, are you letting who you think you’re supposed to be hold you back? 
Are you letting the fear of what other people might think or say hold you back from doing something? (Hint - those people’s opinions of you are none of your business and will never pay your bills...). Sometimes you have to just get over it. You have to push that fear aside, quiet that inner critic, put your blinders on to what others might think or say and JUST DO IT!!!!! You never know what might be waiting for you on the other side of that opportunity!

Ohhh......I am aching this morning after last nights run.....curse of the weak core strikes again 😫 luckily today is week 4 of 4 in the core restore back to exercise group I’ve been attending. I had also been doing the exercises daily at home but haven’t done a lot the last week 😳 so definitely need to get back onto that. Seeing the world through my daughters eyes has to be the BEST thing about motherhood.

She reminds me to slow down, that the world is pretty magical if you just be and take it in, and that this life we’ve got is pretty dang beautiful. .

The gray hairs, wrinkles, and rolls don’t matter...living a happy life is all we’ve got to do. ❤️

Laser eye surgery...... .

I’ve worn glasses full time since I was about 15. I can’t see a sausage without them. And I do wear contact lenses when I can but they are a monthly expense that doesn’t always take priority. .
.
The more I run the more my glasses are annoying me, slipping off, making me sweat more, steaming up. It is also a factor in me not swimming even though it’s an activity I’d like to do, because I’m nervous without glasses/contacts, nervous with contacts incase they get wet, and yes a bit vain if I’m honest for goggles. .
.
So I’ve been seriously looking into laser eye surgery the last few weeks. I’ve looked into it in the past, a bit half heartedly to be honest. The thing is I don’t know anyone who has had it done, so no one to recommend a company or who to avoid, any tips about the procedure etc. The only story I have heard is a friend of a friend who it went wrong for 😳 .

Yesterday, I had a really creative post for today. Now I have no idea what it was. #mombrain 
It may have been related to food because I didn't eat the best yesterday and felt bloated by the time I went to bed! 
Today I am getting myself back on track and I feel amazing after my workouts!! The sweat is dripping off of my face!! How awesome is it that I can say I pushed myself hard enough that I am smiling!! Between holding baby boy and #bicepburnout in #liift4 I can start to see a resemblance of a bicep muscle again!! #nonscalevictory

I’m really looking forward to running this evening. I haven’t been for a run since Saturdays parkrun, which means I’ve missed at least one run on my training plan. I’ve eaten really disgustingly the last week or so, especially since Sunday, pretty much just existing on cake and chocolate. My anxiety keeps catching me unawares at the moment after a conversation with hubby a few days ago about returning to work when my maternity leave finishes. And last night I had 3 glasses of prosecco before bed. So when I woke in the middle of the night feeling really unwell it shouldn’t have come as a surprise, everything building up. But I know that putting on my running shoes and getting out there tonight will help me massively. Especially as tonight is TMR run night, so as well as running I get to chat with a lovely group of really supportive ladies. I’ll run for 60 minutes with the group, which works out about 8km, and then add some more distance on myself as aiming for 12/13km to be on plan ✅ today the diet improves too, more fruit and less chocolate, I don’t need to worry about the cake because I ate all that yesterday 😉 #thismumcan #thismumruns #thismumrunscardiff #loverunning #halfmarathon #halfmarathontraining #postbabyfitness #runningsolveseverything #runningshoes #runcardiff #cardiffrunning

Truth!!
I never really knew that I needed girlfriends until it just kinda happened.  How do I even put into words the blessing that is kick a** women being in your life!?
.
I never really had a lot of girlfriends growing up; just a few that I grew up with and I was fine with that.  I didn’t like the drama and the competition that I used to associate with girlfriends, and being an introvert I enjoyed my me time and not going out all the time. (Still kinda do!)
.
Then five years ago I joined a group of women all working towards their health goals and it was the start of something I never could have dreamed of.  Amazing women who became my co-workers, my fellow goal crushers, my sisterhood that lifted one another up to become the BEST version of ourselves with zero drama and not even a hint of competition.  Just love and support and the best friends I never knew I needed.
.
A couple weeks ago we had a photo shoot together…real bodies, real mamas, real stories and real belly laughs and I found myself thinking…HOW IS THIS MY LIFE!?
.
SO thankful for a job that brings incredible women into my life.  That what started as a fun way to lose the baby weight turned into a full time income on MY terms, MY schedule with people I truly LOVE working with.
.
If you aren’t surrounded by people you LOVE every day, join us!  We know there’s room for us ALL at the top and we want you to be here celebrating life with us!

It is hard AF. I am not in my own house, surrounded by my own things, it is Easter and I have 2 kids to look after - one of them isn’t very reliable when it comes to sleeping😅

I am trying my best to be my best, and every day I can move myself is a victory. My plan is to do 3 workouts each week until I go home and then I will need to come up with a plan.

My plan is to wake up before everyone and spend some time with myself for myself. I know it will be hard, but also worth it. Or at least give it a go.

Until then I am trying to use naptime to squeeze in my workouts and also reduce the amount of chocolate I eat😁

I feel so much stronger in my uper body already 💪💪💪💪 which has always been a weak area of mine. 
Dispite being a knob and falling in to all the hurdles due to not being able to jump properly I really feel like my form was loads better today. Thanks Lydia for working with me to keep improving on it as well as pushing me to achieve the goal I want. 
Can't wait  for next weeks challenge.

Living a healthy lifestyle is seen as “not enjoying life” because I’m not letting myself eat whatever I want whenever I want it and not spending all of my free time “relaxing.” .
.
**Doing something really hard, putting in a lot of effort into something that will make your life better in the long run is being “too hard on yourself.” **Finding 30 minutes in your day, getting up earlier, sacrificing some Netflix time, for exercise is being “too hard on yourself.” Now life is all about doing whatever makes you feel good in the present moment, instead of making the decision that will make you a better person in some way, shape, or form in the long run. .
.
It’s hard to find those people who aren’t afraid to get a little tough with themselves in order to do better and be better. 
Not because they hate themselves, but because they want to be a better version of themselves. 
These days self-love flirts hard with the boundary of self-pity, and many people fail to know the difference. 
Improving yourself, doing better, being better is HARD, and NOW when we’re faced with something hard, instead of facing it head on and going through the toughness, we stop because “we need to be kind to ourselves.” And then we never get better. .
.
I’m all about bettering yourself.... from a place of love rather than because you hate who or what you see in the mirror. .
.
And you can bet I want to surround myself with like-minded people. 
I’m finding “my tribe.” The ones who will push me and encourage me to be better, the ones who do it right alongside me and don’t quit at the first signs of struggle. 
Slowly but surely I’m finding them.

Fitball beginner core workout!-
The fitball can be a great tool to help with your core and pelvic floor strengthening.  This series of exercises is suitable for most people if done correctly ✅ 
1️⃣ Seated pelvic floor and lower abdominal long holds- 10 x 10 seconds (or however many you can manage)
2️⃣ Lumbar rotation- your core stops you rolling all the way over! X 8 each way
3️⃣ Single leg stretch with opposite arm stretch- be very light with your leg on the ball. Exhale to stretch and keep core contraction as you extend leg x 10 each side
4️⃣ Bum lift- avoid sideways ball movement x 10
5️⃣ Roll out to plank- exhale and only lower hips to where you can still feel the pelvic floor and lower abs x 10. Then do 10 x arm movements in/out with no trunk movement!
6️⃣ Prone over ball. Alternating arm lift- don’t flop into ball. Remain light on the ball x 8 per side. Then try opposite arm/leg
7️⃣Bridging on fitball x 10
8️⃣ Curl ups maintaining pelvic floor and lower abs on curl up with exhale x 10-15

Huge thank you to Renee @pt_with_renee @reneediment for sending me some workout inspo this morning.  Each clip is one round, repeat three times (didn’t include reps here to save boring you to tears). Full workout: 
Round 1 :

Hey y’all! It’s been a minute since I’ve posted on this account! We just had our sweet baby eight weeks ago and she is a perfect little angel! 👼🏻💕 We are so in love with her! I have been looking forward to jumping back on the fitness train, but I have been very gentle with myself and patient, knowing my body has been through a whole LOT in the past 11ish months! Was hoping I might be one of the lucky few who could bounce right back into those pre-pregnancy jeans lol, but that has not been the case for me (still mostly in maternity clothes), and truly, it’s OK! There are a few new stretch marks and some extra pounds I didn’t have before, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. We have our beautiful baby girl and it makes it all so worth it! We are fearfully and wonderfully made at any stage of life and this time is no different. 💕 With this being said, I am eight weeks post partum, and am SO excited to start feeling strong and fit again! 💪🏻 I am still not cleared by our doctor to workout how I am used to, so I can’t really focus much on exercise other than light walking and maybe some lighter weights, but I am going to start where I can by cleaning up my diet and posting more to keep myself on track. I love eating healthy foods, but I have a tendency to eat super big portions 🤷🏼‍♀️!! So, here are my current goals for the next six weeks: I am focusing on meal prepping, portion control, and not having so many treats 🍫🍿. This post is the start and I am looking forward to sharing some of my journey post baby! Follow along if you’d like, or don’t and that’s ok too, lol! But I hope to share some new recipes and inspiration along the way!! Any new mamas with me?? We are in this together!! 💕 .

It's taking care of the one body you get to live this life in! 
Instead of making excuses why you can't workout - or trying to burn off the junk you ate over the weekend - how about being grateful for the fact that you CAN workout?

BOOTY BUILDING Drop Set!!!
This is amazingly awful and effective. And all you need is a set of resistance band loops. 
Here is the gist. Use your heaviest band or a combo of bands. Hit those wide stance bridges until just about failure. Go until you mega feel the “ouch”! Then drop the resistance band down. You can choose your own adventure here. I did four band combos and then maxed out on Bodyweight bridges at the end. 
Bridges are so super awesome for not only increasing the junk in your trunk, but also for pelvic floor and deep abdominals. Go back and watch my bridge tutorial if you aren’t feeling them in your glutes enough. Small tweaks can make a big difference.

Week one of ten week training plan for half marathon done ✅ I really struggled with the tempo run, but enjoyed all of the others. I’m so glad I’m getting back into running, it’s making me feel so good both physically and mentally, hubby has commented what a difference it’s making so it’s definitely noticeable to others too. When there’s a slight discrepancy between your Tomtom time (28.50) and the Parkrun official time 🙈 it was a busy one today, and so hot. I struggled with my sprint finish today and felt quite sick, I only had my full length tights to wear and think it was just too much. I’ll have to get some shorts before my next run. Day after day. You are nurturing, you are patient, you are caring, you are tolerant, you are fun, you are structured, you are creative. You laugh, you cry, you watch - mesmerised by their exponential need to learn and grow. But suddenly they are too big to easily hold, too complex to simply kiss better. Pardon my mirror steam, and obvious lack of sleep. We're entering month two of the children and I living in an entirely different state than Vaughn. This will, hopefully, be our final month here in Nashville (where it is 52°), and we are looking forward to joining him in Sun South Bay (where it is 81°). My jaw hits the floor every time I hear what people spend on gym memberships, studio classes, or trainers! All the power to ya if you found something you love and have the money to spend on it, but I talk to so many people who do t think they can afford to do this. 
I legit spend under $100 - A YEAR!!!!!!! - to access tons of fitness programs online that I can do right from home!

No more excuses. There are so many options - we can all find a way to make this work if it’s a priority for us!!!! #healthyandhappy #makeyouapriority

Even though I wanted it, and needed it, I said NO to all the offers of help, the invites to join, but why? FEAR. Fear of what? Now I look back and think how silly that sounds to me. I feared failure, not being good enough, judgement, not being "perfect", not being able to keep up, having to admit I couldn't do it. All of those things held me back. Not to mention the excuses. OHHH ALLL the excuses!🙄 But I craved change, to feel better, gain knowledge. I told myself "nothing changes if nothing changes". I felt courageous when I finally said "this is scary, WAY out of my comfort zone, but I'm going to TRY it anyway!" Because in all honesty, what do I have to lose? Absolutely nothing, with everything to gain. 
After just 5 days I saw it all in a different light! 🌟I still had fears and self doubt BUT because I dipped my toe in and gave it a try, I was seeing it for what it was. The opportunity for change, for growth, for strength. Change feels scary, until it feels AMAZING! 🤩

I expected a gain as I’ve not been on plan this week, but tbh I’ve fallen into that trap of thinking because I’m running more that would cover me eating more chocolate 🙈 obviously not! .

I’m not expecting the best results for next week either because with all the will in the world I’m not one to turn down an Easter egg 😳 but that’s okay, because it’s weight loss is a marathon and not a sprint. I’m also going to be enjoying a glass of wine in the evenings because hubby has a few days off work and it would be rude not to join him 😉 .

I’ve got a 5 mile run planned for the morning with 3 miles interval training. I’m also hoping this will help with my running style as I’ve been advised. I’ve also been doing core exercises every day which I think I can now actually feel my deep muscles so that’s a good sign, and now I’m going to start adding in moves to strengthen my glutes too. .

Managed to get a late registration for the #newport10k today. I had wanted to do it but wasn’t sure about childcare because I’m also running a local 5k in the evening, but managed to get it all sorted so I’m in 😊 really looking forward to my 2nd 10k, need to beat the time I got a few weeks ago of 61.21. Why I workout in a sports bra! 
I would never workout topless in public, so  why do I do it on social media? Spoiler alert—I don’t do it for the likes, the crass comments, or to show off my top two visible abs. I do it because it teaches you three things. 
1️⃣Breath timing: Watch my tummy and ribs when I workout. You’ll often see them expand with air as I prepare to lift. As I exert, I exhale audibly out my mouth and my tummy goes tight. Yours should do the same. Most of us have backwards motor patterns from years of breath-holding and sucking in. The best way for me to re-train your brain, is to give you a visual cue. So always watch what my center is doing. 
2️⃣It helps teach form. A lot of postpartum women hang out in Donald Duck butt (anterior pelvic tilt). I want you to be able to see my ribs. I want you to notice how they stay down and locked, allowing me to more optimally recruit my deep abdominals. No shirt means you can see what my body is doing. 
3️⃣Normalizes postpartum. I also do it because mom bods come in all different shapes and sizes. I didn’t “bounce back.” I have twinskin for days. But this is my body and I know a lot of you can relate. How defeating if we only see women in their perfect exterior. I want to show that you can be strong and functional even if you don’t have a matching outfit and visible six pack. 
My neighbor is working through the program on my app (link in bio). She said everything “clicked” when she watched my tummy. Yessss! She is 35 years postpartum and the light just went off for her by watching my tummy. And I was like yeah—this is why I rock this twin mama belly to 37k people daily. 🤣🤣 I recommend everyone watch themselves in a mirror. You body is the best source of feed back. It can help you connect to all those muscles you’ve long been ignoring. And hey, maybe it will start a revolution. 🙌🏽 I mean, men go topless all the time with no thought to it—big hairy bellies and all. Just saying.
