Got it. Lately I’ve actually felt my body craving nutrition. I’d always heard Mum say this about herself, but never experienced it for myself. I’m keeping in mind that my gut isn’t happy lately (possibly due to reintroducing and then binging on nuts - bad idea), and so I’m probably not absorbing as much as I’d like, but wow, piling on the calories without a high nutrition count does not work great for me.

Keeping with the IBS theme, we know certain foods can make your IBS symtoms worse, that diet is a huge trigger - as the saying goes 'one person's food is another person's poison' and there’s no 'one size fits all' approach (see my recent posts). For some, dietary changes aren't the only solution.

Stress and anxiety are common causative factors; long known to influence digestive function. IBS sufferers are much more sensitive to the effects of stress compared to people who are IBS free, due to their greater changes in gut motility, pain perception, emotional symptoms and a greater production of the stress hormone.

With this knowledge, I always take a multipronged approach to assist my clients to improve their quality of life. 
This is where yoga may also help ease symptoms of IBS and other digestive issues. Simply learning movement from the tummy area, loosens us up, helps gut motility and thereby allows full digestion.  Yoga has been shown to have benefits over conventional treatments by significantly decreasing gastrointestinal symptoms, anxiety and stress - including inflammatory markers such as cytokines.  Why not consider joining a yoga class near you? 
I have found yoga to be hugely helpful to me in every aspect of work/life balance. This is me in a restorative and supportive reclining yoga pose which helped open my hips and abdomen - the area which becomes constricted with IBS sufferers.

Today was the last day of the @medicalmedium liver rescue 369 cleanse.

I wanted to quit a few times.

I cried more than once. (No chocolate for PMS??? 🥺WHAT!!)

Trevor and I had a few hangry moments.

We attracted what seems to be all of Caledon’s ants into our constantly overflowing compost bin.

We spent hours on food prep, grocery runs and clean up.
.
We had to decline dinner invitations.
.
We were called crazy by multiple friends. .

BUT WE MADE IT THROUGH! .
.
10 days ago I never could have imagined I would feel this good so quickly. It wasn’t easy to change my diet but every time a challenge came up @trevorcape was right there with me as we talked ourselves off the ledges of burying our faces in cereal and cake.

Outcomes: -Clearer skin -Less bloated -WAY better digestion -Food became tastier
-Incredibly clean and smooth feeling skin
-A huge awareness of how much unnecessary stuff was in our diet -Discovered Citric acid in EvERYThInG -Reset a chocolate habit -Reset a coffee habit -Learned how to cook in some simpler, healthier ways
-Clear mind

*Raw “Oatmeal” w/Bananas, Apple, Cinnamon, Frozen Wild Blueberries, Fresh Mint
*Broccoli, Steamed/Mashed Japanese Sweet Potato & Salad w/Butter/Romaine Lettuce, Spinach, Cilantro, Grape Tomatoes, Red Cabbage, Squeezed Orange
*Hibiscus/Lemon Balm Tea

I completely forgot to mention that the only supplement I was taking during this cleanse was the Adrenal Health Jump Start. I had already started taking this before I decided to do the cleanse & this needs to be taken 6-8weeks then transition to Adrenal Health Daily Support.

For post cleanse day 1, I didn’t consume any fats to avoid my  liver becoming shocked after having a nice cleansing break.

I also forgot to mention my skin feels super soft on my face right now!! I still have chicken skin, especially on my arms & legs, but it isn’t as bad as usual. Anyone else have this?

I tried to do the Disease Reversal Nighttime Meditation & fell asleep. 😴

Felt pretty great this day besides my chronic pain.

Mushrooms and cheakpea curry. Sooooo delicious. This one is made with coconut milk, which besides being so tasty, has lots of vitamins and minerals, such as vitamin C, folate, magnesiump, potassium and iron. Coconut milk for me is the best sub for cow's milk 🤩☺️
Recipe:
1 cup of cooked cheakpea (or 1 can)
2 portobello mushrooms sliced
4 chopped tomatoes
1 chopped onion
4 garlic cloves (chopped)
1 tsp chili powder
2 tsp turmeric
1 tbsp curry 
Start by sauteeing the garlic and onion in olive oil, then add mushrooms, the  cheakpeas and then the tomatoes. Throw in the spices and mix all ingredients. Cover and  let it cook for about 15 min. Add the coconut milk and stir it until well blended (about 10 min). Remove from heat and serve. .

I spent my morning up at @wildzorafoods learning about why Zora started the company, the products they make (they make #Paleo and #AIP products), their mission, and touring the manufacturing facilities. SUCH a great, warm, and welcoming group of people!

👉They recently won the Company Week’s Colorado Manufacturing Award for Outstanding Food Brand. Zora was only one of two women to win a manufacturing award!!
👉They are a woman-owned company and most of the employees are women! #girlpower 👉 Their headquarters is in an old JC Penny building! Like a pre big-box kind of storefront off of Main Street. So much awesome character.

Find your reason why... Read any ‘self help’ book, ‘business’ book or what have you and it’ll suggest that you  discover your ‘why’. My why is the man in this picture, my dad.  My father was my hero, my idol and a person who I aspire to be like. 
Doctors told me that the Western way of living and eating basically led to his poor health and eventually an early death. 
This didn’t click in my head until several months after his death.  My fathers fate was preventable (according to doctors). That’s hard for me to accept.  I still get angry with myself for not recognizing and possibly doing something to change that... So here I am, trying to start and run a meal prep business that can help to stop this totally preventable plague within our society. 
So what is my ‘why’? My why is my father and you.  Together we can stop this health epidemic.  We can reverse obesity.  We can stop those aches and pains, fatigue and low self esteem.

This week in my YouTube video I discuss this recent scientific study that looks into the impact of IMPROVING YOUR DIET on MAJOR DEPRESSION.

The study is called the SMILES trial (short for Supporting the Modification of lifestyle In Lowered Emotional States).

We've known for a long time from observational studies in the general population that a good quality diet can be protective for depression (lowering the risk by 30%). On the other hand, a poor quality diet increases risk for depression.
.
The SMILES trial is ground breaking from the perspective that it's the first quality research that shows that improving a person's diet can reduce depression symptoms in people that have been DIAGNOSED with MODERATE to SEVERE DEPRESSION.
.
The study showed that 32% of participants with moderate to severe depression, after only 12 weeks on a better quality diet, had their depression resolve.

Those that implemented more dietary changes and better choices, have greater improvements in their mood.

Sometimes working out and not eating pizza and cake makes me unhappy, it’s not always fun or easy, but if I was to pick an “unhappy” it would be this one!! I am off all of my medication, my rheumatologist and orthopaedic surgeon are in disbelief I’m doing so well with my knee replacement and rheumatoid arthritis and I love the way I look. Next time you’re at the grocery store try to carry 7 large bags of potatoes, bet you can’t. That’s what I’ve lost!! The moral of this story is..... it’s not always fun, and I don’t always love it, but it’s always worth it!!!!!

This has been testing week at school, which is my responsibility. It's been stressful, needless to say. But this year, eating during the stress never really crossed my mind!  Talk about a #nonscalevictory! I was amazingly calm. So much so that my co-worker deemed me serial killer calm🤣. But seriously, that's what praying over things accomplished.
